London Design Week 2017
The show promised an array of world-class talent all whilst being held at the legendary creative hub itself (Design center, Chelsea Harbour).
It didn’t disappoint! When I heard it was on I jumped at the chance. It is where designers, architects, media and decision-makers go to keep one step ahead. Of cause I wasn’t going to miss it! There was lots to see and do, an exciting programme of collection launches, ‘meet the designer’ workshops, presentations, book signings, all in a great atmosphere and buzz. With the industry’s most valuable names, made it an unmissable event.
After having the inside scoop on the latest design directions, developing my knowledge of the season’s key fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, lighting, accessories, kitchens, bathroom, outdoor living, tiles and carpets and much more. It is only fare I share it!
However I wont bore you with all the information you can see and look at this on their website but I am going to share with you what I thought was the ‘best of the day’.
On entering the show to my right was Cole and Son wallpaper. Cole and Son has always been one of my favourite wallpapers, the quality and unique design makes it more than just wallpaper. More like a piece of art, and so it should be! Their whole collection was there, to look at and flick through just like I did as a teenager looking at posters in HMV. It was an interior lovers dream. The best part was the new Ardmore collection hanging on their walls. This new stylish range is colourful, vibrant with the collaboration of an African twist. It is quirky and fun and well worth a look at!
One of my highlights of the day was meeting Kyle Bunting. When you see his work in photographs it looks great but in real life it is simply breath taking. He creates bespoke luxurious to the touch rugs, wall art and more with hide. As I walked in, and greeted by Kyle his bespoke navy blue, patterned wall art by texture was hung behind him. It felt like I was in the presence of a master piece and it made more than a statement.
Kyle Bunting, was showcasing his work at Edelman Leather another highlight.
Edelman Leather is the premier brand of luxury leathers for interiors. There bespoke leather can be made into anything, coffee tables, mirrors, bars, seats, wall coverings etc. The list and their collection and variety are endless. I especially love the Shagreen collection. A range of rich texture that looks incredible when embossed and the pattern is unique. Infact Edelemen Leather is the only company that has it.
The other company’s to watch this season are:
- For accessories – The new Armani Casa Collection. I especially loved the marble Luce candles and banana leaf, Erica Statement bowl in gold.
- Fabrics – Harliquin is the place for fabrics. They stock great brands and high quality finishing. Everything can be seen online and the best thing is the Samples can be sent to you for free!
- Bespoke furniture – Decorus furniture is high quality, they are constantly developing new finishes that can be applied to products and bespoke pieces. A variety of forged textures from steel, bronze and brass to name a few.
